Peacock is the latest streaming service to launch, backed by NBC Universal. It was originally set to debut during the 2020 Olympics, which NBC currently holds coverage. However, with the delay of the Olympics, NBC still moves forward with Peacock’s Launch on July 15th for universal users.

So, what is it? Essentially, its cable wrapped up into one simply streaming package for your viewing. Peacock will be free, for the most part, and will house all of your favorite content like: 30 Rock, The Office, Parks & Recreation and a plethora of movies under the Comcast, NBC Universal umbrella. Along with television and movie favorites, Peacock will also offer news and sports, signature to its NBC Universal tie ins. While Peacock will have tiers to choose from, one its most basic tier is free content and access to half of the titles that subscribers would have access to. Along with the free package comes Ads and Commercials…you know, kind of like…cable. The basic subscription with ads with be $4.99/month and without ads $9.99/month.

Peacock Streaming Content Options

NBC knows that is has to create content to compete, people are no longer tuning in to Thursday evening programming, instead they are binge watching the seasons once they are offered of streaming or watch episodes the next day at their convenience on places like Hulu. To keep up, along with its library of 20,000 hours of content, Peacock will also be launching Original Series like Brave New World and Battlestar Galactica to better compete in the streaming space.

Brave New World, a Peacock Original coming July 15th.

The biggest difference for Peacock in the world of streaming is that it does offer free options for viewers, setting it apart from most of its competition. While Peacock is in the process of buying back its original titles that it has lent out throughout the years, most notably, The Office, which will be leaving Netflix in January 2021, it has plans to produce more content in the next coming months – pending COVID restrictions.

Keep in mind if you are looking to invest in Peacock, similar to HBO Max, it has not signed streaming terms with Amazon or Roku, meaning that you will not be able to watch from your Firestick or Roku devices on your screens. Right now, they are only allowing Apple access to stream its programs – still developing and Roku/Amazon might be released prior to launch on July 15th.

Here is the current list of streaming services:
