The 93rd Academy Awards are (Finally) Here! What You Need to Know Before Sunday.

The 93rd Academy Awards Ceremony that premieres this Sunday on April 25th will unfortunately be the least viewed show in Oscar history. It’s sad, but looking to be true. After an incredibly long Award Season (delayed 2+ Months due to COVID), the ceremony is likely not going to draw the viewing of the masses and its mostly because the nominations are a little too predictable.

Boring, would be another word for it. And there are a few reasons for it. While many anticipated movies that were due out in 2020 were delayed, we have also been talking about the same movies for a year plus, dragging out the details and predictions for months longer than necessary or warranted. No offense, but I really don’t want to hear more about “Nomadland” since we have been dissecting the film for at least twelve months.

But I digress because I personally will still be watching and you should too because honestly, what else are you going to be doing?

Here’s what to know about the show:

There is once again no Oscar Host. Following the backlash of Kevin Hart drama in 2019, The Oscars have opted to go host-less for the second year in a row. While we are operating through COVID-times, yes, there will still be a Red Carpet! However, the crowd in the auditorium will be significantly smaller. Only nominees, guests and presenters will be at the Award Show in person, limiting the crowds.

There will still be musical performances! As is tradition, the Best Song acts will still have a chance to perform on the stage during the course of the show. So far, H.E.R is scheduled to sing “Fight for You” from “Judas and the Black Messiah” as well as Leslie Odom Jr who will be singing “Speak Now” from “One Night in Miami.”

There is a long and celebrity-worthy list of presenters including Brad Pitt, Laura Dern, Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellwegger, Halle Berry, Don Cheadle, Bryan Cranston, Harrison Ford, Regina King, Marlee Matlin, Rita Moreno, Reese Witherspoon, Zendaya and 2020 best director winner Bong Joon-ho ("Parasite").

So what do you need to watch before the event? If you want to limit your gaze and want to watch the movies that will most likely earn the most awards, please follow below streaming recommendations and guides:

And that’s the sitch.
